The Kosovo Women’s Economic Forum organized a discussion on the topic: “Strengthening Gender-Responsive Family Policies with the Private Sector and Government in Kosovo.”It was emphasized that Kosovo has the lowest female employment rate in the region (19.8%), with major barriers including gender norms, lack of parental leave, inflexible work environments, and inequalities in the implementation of labor laws.

Representatives from government institutions, the private sector, and international organizations proposed inclusive policy solutions, such as parental leave schemes and flexible work arrangements.

Positive examples from private companies — such as Art House, which offers paid paternity leave for new fathers — demonstrate that change is achievable and contributes to building a more equal work environment and fostering sustainable development.

This project is implemented by the Riinvest Institute – Kosovo Women’s Economic Forum, with support from UNFPA Kosovo and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
